Our family used WMF steak knives from the classic line, that we had for over 15 years. With the kids getting older, we wanted to expand our set of steak knives and with the classic line no longer available, this set came on the radar as an alternative. Arrived in the wooden box the next day (thanks KnivesAndTools for the next-day delivery), and although the box was intact, one of the wooden inserts was loose. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with a dab of glue, but keep in mind that the box is pretty flimsy. Just enough for clean storage and avoiding scratches but that's it. These all-steel knives came pretty sharp out of the box. Not razor sharp, but decent. The blades are serrated over almost the entire length and symmetrical. We have 2 lefties in the family, and they had no problem using these knives. Compared to the classic line, these all-steel are relatively heavy, so maybe not so convenient for smaller kids. These are definitely a risk for your tiles when dropped. Sharp knives, good balance and they look fantastic. Overall very happy with the purchase.
